The Alan Jackson farewell concert will air on NBC on Dec. 8, bringing the country star’s final live performance to television. The special, titled Alan Jackson: The Last Show, will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.

Producers recorded the event on June 29 during Jackson’s sold-out final concert at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. It serves as both a career celebration and a record of his last performance, just in case one major goodbye was not quite enough.

The guest list includes Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Lee Ann Womack, Adam Wright, Big City Brian Wright and Carlisle Wright.

Which songs did Alan Jackson perform?

Jackson’s set featured some of his best-known hits from more than three decades in country music, including:

  • “Chattahoochee”
  • “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”
  • “Remember When”
  • “Gone Country”
  • “Livin’ on Love”

Recordings from the Nashville concert will also appear on his forthcoming live album, The Last Show: One More for the Road – The Finale (Live from Nashville).

The television special is designed to showcase the catalogue that established Jackson as one of country music’s most prominent performers and songwriters. His industry honours include induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.

Who directed and produced the special?

Sam Wrench directed Alan Jackson: The Last Show. His previous credits include the 2023 concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, along with projects featuring Sabrina Carpenter, Laufey, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Andrea Bocelli and Mumford & Sons.

Joan of Arc StudioWorks and EverWonder Studio produced the concert. Executive producers include Cindy Mabe, Dawn Gates and Harper Grae for Joan of Arc StudioWorks, plus Mike Antinoro and Raj Kapoor for EverWonder Studio. Jackson, Debbie Doebler and RAC Clark also serve as executive producers.

Allison Roithinger, Victoria Chamlee and Danny Meiseles of EverWonder Studio are co-executive producers.

Jackson has performed while managing a nerve condition

In 2021, Jackson disclosed that he had been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease for at least a decade. The degenerative condition damages nerves, primarily in the arms and legs, and can affect balance and the ability to walk.

His diagnosis gave added weight to his final run of performances, although the NBC special remains focused on the music, the guests and the catalogue that carried his career across more than 30 years.
