Savannah Chrisley’s engagement came with kayaks, a hidden ring and some urgent assistance from a friend. The 29-year-old reality television star, who is also expecting her first child, revealed that her partner Jason proposed during a trip to the Cayman Islands in December.

Chrisley is keeping Jason’s full identity private, but discussed the proposal on the Oct. 27 episode of her Unlocked podcast. The couple had been dating for five months when he presented her with the ring.

She nearly discovered the plan early

Jason had carried the ring in his backpack, where it narrowly avoided making an early and rather unceremonious debut. While he was retrieving a charger, Chrisley spotted a box left on the counter.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God! Is that what I think it is?’” she recalled, adding that she could not be completely certain. Rather than confront him, she tried to ignore the suspiciously ring-shaped evidence.

The couple later travelled to Little Cayman, where they took kayaks into shallow water with a cooler and speaker. Chrisley said they spent hours listening to music, talking and exploring small islands.

“It’s the safest feeling I’ve ever felt in my entire life,” she said of the morning.

Jason apparently had not planned to propose at that exact spot. Once there, however, he decided the setting was right and began messaging the couple’s friend Ashley for help. She collected the ring from his hotel room, brought it to the island and helped arrange flowers and champagne on the shore. A straightforward operation, assuming one overlooks the ring transport, kayaking and covert palm-tree storage.

Jason left the meaning of the ring to her

When the couple returned to shore, Chrisley initially thought Jason had simply organised a romantic surprise. She had spent the day swimming and was still wearing a swimsuit, with no hair or makeup preparation of the sort she had previously imagined for a proposal.

Jason poured champagne before retrieving the ring box, which Ashley had hidden beneath a palm tree. According to Chrisley, he told her the jewellery was an expression of his love and could mean whatever she wanted.

“This can be an engagement ring, a promise ring, a cocktail ring, for all I care,” he said, according to her account. “I just want you to know how much I love you.”

Chrisley said Jason placed no pressure on her to accept an engagement. She did, despite acknowledging that the relationship had moved quickly.

“Timing means nothing,” she said. “I feel like you could find out more about a person in three months than you did in a whole year of being with them.”

Although the proposal did not match her old vision of being fully dressed and camera-ready, Chrisley said she would not change it.

“That proposal was just right,” she said. “I would not trade that moment for anything in the entire world because it was us.”
