Nicki Minaj has taken her support for Donald Trump beyond public declarations of loyalty, joining the US president at a Republican campaign rally in Michigan and urging voters to back his party in the November midterm elections.

The rapper appeared alongside Trump in Port Huron on Sunday, October 25, 2026, after travelling aboard Air Force One. But amid the enthusiastic chants and affectionate praise, one particular promise raised an interesting constitutional question.

Minaj told Trump she would support him if he decided to run for president again, despite the constitutional restriction preventing him from being elected to a third term.

Nicki Minaj turns her Trump support into a campaign message

Speaking at McMorran Place in Port Huron, Minaj encouraged the audience to chant their support for Trump before praising what she described as his resilience and his influence on the country's direction.

She credited his return to the White House with restoring optimism about America's future and told the crowd, "I love him so much."

Her appearance was more than a celebrity endorsement of the president. Minaj also led chants for Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate for Michigan's US Senate seat, and John James, the party's candidate for governor.

She encouraged voters to support both politicians, describing the upcoming elections as a crucial moment for the state and the broader Republican movement.

The rapper also voiced opposition to gender-transition procedures involving minors, aligning that part of her speech with an issue frequently emphasised in Republican campaign messaging.

Her remarks can be watched in the video of her Michigan rally appearance, which includes a transcript of the speech.

Her promise to support Trump again comes with a constitutional catch

Perhaps the most striking part of Minaj's appearance came at the end, when she promised to remain loyal to Trump and added, "If you run again, I will support you again."

There's a significant complication: Trump has already been elected president twice, in 2016 and 2024.

Under the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, nobody can be elected to the presidency more than twice. That means another Trump presidential victory would be prohibited under the Constitution's current rules.

Minaj's pledge therefore expressed her personal loyalty rather than pointing to an election Trump is presently eligible to contest.

It also wasn't the first time she had publicly committed herself to the president. At a Treasury Department event in January 2026, Minaj described herself as Trump's number-one fan and said criticism of her political position only strengthened her support.

The meaningful development in Michigan was her direct involvement in campaigning for other Republican candidates, rather than a newly announced allegiance to Trump.

Could Nicki Minaj really become White House Press Secretary?

The rally followed another unusual moment aboard Air Force One, where White House Communications Director Steven Cheung filmed a playful interview with Minaj about Trump's presidency.

Cheung subsequently suggested on social media that they might have found a new White House Press Secretary, prompting speculation about whether the rapper could eventually take on an official role.

However, as TheWrap reported, the exchange was presented in a humorous manner, rather than as a formal appointment announcement.

There has been no confirmed appointment of Minaj to that position. Her participation in the Republican campaign, on the other hand, is now firmly on the public record, with her Michigan appearance demonstrating how far her political involvement has developed ahead of the November 3 elections.
