Suki Waterhouse has settled the Robert Pattinson marriage rumors: they are engaged, but they have not secretly married. The singer and actor said any wedding would probably happen in 2027 at the earliest, largely because the couple are balancing two demanding careers, a young daughter and a home life spread across several cities.

“It would either be all or nothing,” Waterhouse told The Sunday Times in an interview published on November 1. “If we were going to go for it we’d have a massive party, blow it out.”

That plan requires time, a location and presumably a rare week when nobody has to report to a film set or concert venue.

How the secret-wedding speculation started

Waterhouse and Pattinson were first romantically linked in July 2018. People reported in December 2023 that they were engaged after Waterhouse appeared in public wearing a diamond ring. Their daughter was born in March 2024, and neither parent has publicly revealed her name.

The idea that they had already married gained traction in January 2025, when the Daily Mail relayed an anonymous claim that the couple had held a Caribbean ceremony on New Year’s Eve. The report was never verified.

Speculation returned in March 2026 after Pattinson gave Extra a deliberately vague answer about his “biggest secret,” saying it was “the same one” as Zendaya’s. At the time, Zendaya was facing her own secret-marriage rumors involving Tom Holland. It was an efficient way to encourage gossip without confirming anything, which celebrity interviews occasionally manage to achieve.

Waterhouse’s latest comments provide the clearest answer yet. No private ceremony took place, and it would be the first marriage for both stars.

Why the wedding is still on hold

Waterhouse, 34, is touring her third album, Loveland, while Pattinson, 40, has film commitments including The Batman Part II. Since becoming parents, they have moved between temporary homes in London, New York and Los Angeles to remain together.

“Our life since having our daughter, which is strange and backwards, hasn’t been anywhere,” Waterhouse said. “We’ve been in rentals and moving every couple of months and we just haven’t been home.”

She added that the family stays wherever the couple can establish a temporary base. The delay, then, appears to be logistical rather than a sign of uncertainty about the relationship.

Waterhouse described their nearly decade-long partnership as “a beautiful thing” and said she remains surprised by how happy and secure it feels after earlier relationships that lasted no more than two years.

The couple’s daughter is now about two and a half. Waterhouse said both parents feel closely connected to her despite their unusual schedule, describing the child as happy and calling herself and Pattinson confident parents.

Their work follows them into family life too. Waterhouse revealed in July that their daughter calls Pattinson “Daddy Batman” because she often sees him wearing the costume during FaceTime calls. Apparently even Gotham’s schedule is easier to explain than Hollywood wedding planning.
