When it came out in 2011, Captain America: The First Avenger was pretty hit and miss. It was one of those films that needed time to be appreciated and over the second or third viewing, it really came into its own.

It was flawed, of course, but it had a lot of heart for a high-budget Hollywood super-franchise blockbuster film, helped hugely by an amazing and genuine performance from the captain of our hearts, Chris Evans.

Although he obviously appeared in the Avengers films, it was in his own run of films that he shone. Winter Soldier was excellent, as was Civil War, which means that – for me – the Captain America trilogy is up there with the best.

We then saw Cap in the exceptional Avengers: Infinity War and a lot of us thought that it would be the last time we saw Evans don the stars and stripes, but were pleasantly surprised when he was one of the few who made it through the film.

Previously, Evans hinted that Infinity War would be the last time we saw him as Captain America, as the actor wanted to go more into directing and, I suppose, less “Disney” roles. But now it looks like things really are coming to an end as a tweet revealed filming wrapped on Avengers 4… and that’s all she wrote.

So… that’s it?

God, I’m going to miss him. It’s so bizarre that when the first film came out, I really didn’t expect to fall in love with a walking American flag but he’s just so f*cking likeable.

I’m not alone…

I’m sad now.

The MCU’s in good hands but it won’t be the same again.
