For a while I was completely indifferent towards the whole Christmas menu hype; I was sceptical about the random flavours people were suddenly pairing together and my one experience with this faddy food group was an extremely dry turkey and cranberry sandwich from Boots which in all honesty nearly ruined Christmas for me.

However, just like The Grinch, I had an epiphany.

Whereas he discovered his dormant heart, though, I discovered an obsession for Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and thus my transformation from scornful, anti-Christmas creature to full-time festive food lover was complete.

I say all this because Costa have just revealed their Christmas menu for 2018 – news that normally wouldn’t have interested me  – and I have to say I’m excited and hungry in equal measure.

They’ve announced that drink faves such as Black Forest Hot Chocolate and Gingerbread and Cream are back by popular demand (popular demand makes it sound like people were out on the streets campaigning for their return – which they might have been, to be fair) as well as delicious sounding flavours like Caramelised Orange & Cream and Hazelnut Praline & Cream.

Other standout coffees and beverages include: The Luxury Chocolate – a small but beautifully formed rich, dark and decadent Hot Chocolate, the Luxury Caramel – a rich and silky Hot Caramel topped with milk foam and the Winter Character Roast – limited edition blend with hints of winter berries, dark cocoa and warming spices can be chosen to form the Espresso base of any Costa Coffee.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, not by a long shot!

Their signature coffees will also come in four seasonal cups – bronze, teal, purple and red, along with a snowman, penguin, gingerbread man, Rudolph the Reindeer and the man himself, Santa Claus.

For all you foodies out there, there’s also a mouth-watering selection of Xmas grub to choose from.

Highlights include: Pigs in Blankets Mac & Cheese (good Lord), Turkey and Emmenthal Shimmer Brioche (yes), Beef and Caramelised Onion Toasted Baguette (get in me), Pigs Tucked Under Blankets Panini (stop it) and for all you non-meaters, Veggie Christmas Lunch Wrap (you’re alright, thanks).

There’s also plenty of other treats too, including a Cup Croissant with Nutella, The Gluten Free Vegan Mince Tart, Double Chocolate Yule Log and The Paul the Penguin Chocolate Cake, Father Christmas Gingerbread and Jammy Rudolph Shortcake for kids.

It’s a Christmas miracle!

People are understandably losing their marbles at the news, but Costa Chief Coffee Taster (what a job) Gennaro Pelliccia managed to contain the excitement with this considered statement:

“The release of our Christmas cups truly marks the start of the festive season at Costa Coffee. We can’t wait for the new designs to hit stores and see our customers’ reactions. It never ceases to amaze us how much love there is for our limited-edition cups.

“Our Christmas drinks menu will be the perfect festive match for the eye-catching designs. There are delicious new creations and old favourites for people to enjoy, as we help spread the Christmas cheer.”

The cups will be available from Monday 29th October, the food and drink will be available from 1st November, I’ll be there, you’ll be there, heck, we’ll all be there!

The diet can wait a little longer, right?
