They were 2018’s sweethearts; like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle but more accessible. Everyone who was anyone loved Dani and Jack, the winners of ITV’s Love Island.

Things weren’t meant to be though, as the show’s winners put an end to their whirlwind relationship just four months after it started, as the pair began to drift apart.

Dani, 22, daughter of Eastenders star Danny Dyer, confirmed the sad news to her Instagram fans, saying:

Jack & I have sadly decided to part ways. It’s been an incredible 6 months, and we will always have a place in our hearts for each other, but sadly we’ve come to the realisation that it’s not meant to be long term. We both plan to stay friends. I hope you’ll all understand. Love Dani x

Very sad news.

We both plan to stay friends“, she says. That’s what they all say. My ex said that to me and I can’t get a word in edgewise to her for love nor money…

As The Sun have it, the two couldn’t cope with both having such hectic schedules, and that began to form cracks in the relationship.

An insider told the paper:

When they left the villa they really thought they would stay together forever, but reality soon set in and things started to get strained.

They came out to a whirlwind of publicity and after a while, things started to get to them and the cracks appeared.

They are both incredibly busy and they have decided to call time on their romance.

What shame. They moved in together and even got a dog!

Previously, filming their own reality show, things weren’t perfect as they argued on set. As reports have it, they even had to urge the producers not to film the rows. Jack told the Sun:

Filming the show wasn’t easy. It was tough, it was intense – you’re on camera most days of the week all day long.

We had bickers during filming just like any other couple. I got emotional with Dani doing it; I even had a couple of tear ups. But Dani and I got through it.

That’s life. It was fun whilst it lasted.
