The first trailer for Money Heist’s fifth and final season has finally dropped – and the show looks like it will be going out with a bang.

Netflix released a teaser for the fifth and final season of Álex Pina’s hit Spanish crime drama (original title La casa de papel) on their Twitter page last week (Monday 26 July), which showed El Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) tied up in chains by the disgraced ex-inspector Alicia Sierra (played by Najwa Nimri).

Season four of the Netflix show ended with Sierra pointing a gun at the Professor’s head as his team was preparing to take on the Spanish Police inside the Bank of Spain.

Now, the official trailer has arrived, and from what we can see, it’s going to be an all-out bloodbath.

There’s not a lot happening aside from a lot of explosions and a lot of big guns.

Oh, and the Professor hanging from his neck at the hands of Sierra.

In the trailer, the Professor says: “It’s possible this is the last time I’ll speak to all of you.”

And with what comes next – and following the shock death of the adored Nairobi (played by Alba Flores) in the last season – the professor and his team don’t have much hope.

The Spanish Army is called in to capture or kill all of the Professor’s team, but with their leader facing his own problems, how will they escape?

The official description reads: “The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours.

“They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own.

“The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan.

“Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army.

“The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.”

Úrsula Corberó will return as Tokio and Itziar Ituño will come back as Raquel Murillo (or Lisbon) in the final season.

The cast will also include Pedro Alonso as Berlin, Miguel Herrán as Rio and Jamie Lorente as Denver.

Filming concluded on May 14, with the first volume set for release via the streaming giant on September 3.

Fans will then have to wait patiently for Vol. 2, which is scheduled to arrive on December 3.

The show has grown to become one of the most successful non-English series in Netflix history, with 65 million users tuning into the fourth season within one month of its release.

We loved the new trailer! Did you?
