The SuperBowl is one of those things that I’m aware of happening without actually taking too much notice of it; sort of like Brexit.

While I’m pretty sure it revolves around a game of football and a man called Tom Brady, for the most part it seems like the sport plays second fiddle to the spectacle.

I’ve seen way more about the halftime show and the bloke from Maroon 5’s nipples than the actual game itself.

Anyway, the self-proclaimed ‘Greatest Show On Earth’ (bit arrogant) is also famous for it adverts, with Game Of Thrones’ effort proving to be an excellent bit of trolling.

Their ad was a crossover with Bud Light – you know, Dilly Dilly! and all that – to show a mocked-up jousting match between The Mountain and another character called ‘The Bud Knight’.

The ad combines a couple of references from GoT; the first is the jousting scene from Season 1 (Episode 5, “The Wolf and the Lion”) where The Mountain battles Ser Loras Tyrell in front of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister in the audience.

But the bit that had most people talking was of course when the Mountian walks over to the Bud Knight and crushes his head with his hands, just like he did with Oberon Martell in Season 4.

What a horrifying scene that was.

The ad ends with one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons arriving and breathing fire onto the stadium grounds much like Drogon did when he rescued her in the fighting pits of Meereen in Season 5.

It’s quite a good advert, isn’t it?

Game of Thrones returns for its eighth and final season on April 14th -15th (depending on where you’re watching it) and if I were you I’d expect a lot of drama.
