Around a year and a half ago, for Halloween 2017, Marks and Spencer released a vampire version of their famous Colin the Caterpillar cake and this genuinely confused me.

I tweeted at the supermarket, baffled…

And to be honest, they really weren’t playing ball. They essentially replied saying “he’s a f*cking cake, idiot”, albeit more polite.

This appears to be somewhat of a theme for M&S, as comedian and presenter Greg James decided to tweet them with a little joke, complaining that his daffodils hadn’t yet bloomed (even though they were actually asparagus)…

Fun little 6/10 harmless joke. You can’t really go wrong with that kind of content but for some reason, the supermarket took it completely at face value.

Probably confused that they thought he was being serious, Greg responded, thanking them…

And that’s when Marks and Spencer’s Donna realised her mistake…

You can’t say fairer than that. Greg got the last word in though…

I suppose if you were put in the shoes of Donna, it would be pretty unprofessional to outright tell Greg that he’s an idiot for swapping daffodils out for asparagus, but it must have been pretty embarrassing for her if she did actually consult the “flower team”.

I’ve got to say, I like the joke from Greg, but it’s perhaps the least Radio 1 joke I’ve ever seen.

Young, hip, trendy kids don’t buy daffodils from Marks and Spencer; they squat and shout at their mothers. Come on.
