For all the concerns over this series of ‘I’m A Celeb’, it’s fair to say it went down a storm.
Harry Redknapp stole the nation’s heart over his stories and general affable personality, which led to him being crowned King of the Jungle in Sunday night’s finale.
However, we very nearly had a different winner.
That’s because it’s been revealed that the former football manager very nearly quit the show weeks ago after his beloved wife Sandra become ill with the life-threatening condition sepsis.
She’s been ill with the sepsis and it’s knocked her for six,” Harry told The Sun.
“It was only five weeks ago. Sandra was in and out of hospital but she wanted to come over to Australia.
“I was worried about her coming, I didn’t know if it was going to be too much for her.”
Thankfully, Sandra pulled through and even made it into the I’m a Celeb camp to pay Harry a surprise and tearful visit just before the final, as seen below:
Speaking previously about his jungle win, Harry said:
“It was tougher than I expected… but I made so many good friends. It’s really been an unbelievable experience.
“I’m amazed. They just dragged me through it, every one of them. Without them, I would have never survived.”
In other ‘I’m A Celeb’ news, Harry’s son Jamie’s potential relationship with camp-mate Emily Atack seems to be blossoming.
The pair shared a recent flirt which you can read about here.
