Let’s be honest, here; we all knew that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to be playing Mysterio, the villain, in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home film since there were set photos to prove it.

With that said, it’s still nice to hear it from the man himself, since it’s nice to hear absolutely anything from Jake Gyllenhaal. He’s just one of those people who’s nice to hear from, you know?

Set photos from the production of Far From Home, the Homecoming sequel, all but confirmed the role as they showed the actor in Mysterio’s trademark attire – albeit without the goldfish bowl on his head – facing off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

But now Jake himself has chimed in with a hilarious Instagram post to prove it…

I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.

Looking disgusted at the things Mysterio does in the comics, Jake exclaims:

While the caption reads:

I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man

To be fair to him, he would have been an excellent Spider-Man back in the day…

If you’re unfamiliar with Mysterio, the most famous iteration of the character is Quentin Beck – an unpowered special effects master. He uses his know how of robotics, magic, hand-to-hand combat and hypnosis to contend with superheroes; more often than not, Spider-Man.

A different version of Mysterio once tricked Wolverine into killing all of the X-Men, making him think they were different villains.

Expect some major mind games in Far From Home.
