No one could have predicted the meteoric rise of Thank U, Next but I suppose when you add absolutely everything together, it does make sense.

For a start, it’s very meme-able. Two huge Twitter fads have already grown out of the song and somehow, that doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down at any point.

Secondly, it comes courtesy of the world’s sweetheart, Ariana Grande who – for better or for worse – has been in the news a lot this year.

Thirdly, it pops. Great song. Next.

But there’s only one thing that could make the song better, and that’s Mister Jeff Goldblum.

If Tom Hanks is the daddy of Hollywood, then Jeff Goldblum is the cool uncle who absolutely everyone loves with every fibre of their being.

Weirdly, I have met a few people who aren’t huge on Hanks, but I’ve never known a single to person to think anything other than fantastic things about Thor: Ragnarok’s Grandmaster.

He’s just superb.

Anyway, as I said, the song could only be improved by the inclusion of said Goldblum, and that’s exactly what happened when he appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden and the two made their own Thank U, Jeff.

Essentially the whole song is spent with the presenter waxing lyrical about the actor, and it absolutely works.

On Thor: Ragnarok his performance was classic / Who could forget that hot doctor, that he played in Jurassic?

Fantastic work.

Grande, herself, was a fan…

What an excellent way to start the weekend…
