Previously talking about recording Toy Story 4, Tim Allen – who plays Buzz Lightyear – spoke about the difficulty and emotion surrounding the lines.
“I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story.
It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled. I couldn’t even get through the last scene.
I would love to be a Washington leaker. I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.“
Tom Hanks had also said how emotional it is, so we know we’re in for something big here.
But one thing we didn’t know we were in for was the inclusion of the least Disney character of all time, John Wick.
I mean, he’s probably not playing John Wick in the film, but Keanu Reeves, the ageless actor behind him, is voicing someone.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen said:
“New guys are in it. Keanu Reeves has got a great part in it. Inside story, even the fun, gentle guy that he is, even he said, ‘This sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear’.
And his character does have an edge to that.”
As of yet, no-one who isn’t directly involved in the film has any sort of clue what kind of role Reeves will be playing, but I imagine he’ll be a very cool, hardened character.
He’s perfect for that, after all.
Speaking of the final scene he recorded, Tom Hanks said on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show:
“It was the first time that we were going to be recording the end of the movie, and Toy Story is going to have an impactful ending.
The way you record Toy Story, you’re in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you’re facing him so he can look right up and you can talk about it.
But I didn’t want to see them and pretend they couldn’t see me. When I realised what they were going for, I realised, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history’.”
I’m not ready for this.
