We’ve all had that generic ‘getting to know you chat’…
“What would you do if you won the lottery?”
Harmless fun, really, but after a few selfish choices – three different houses, ten cars, constant holidaying – you find yourself going, “oh and I’d give my friends and family some money”.
After all, they’d start to resent you if you were out living some lavish lifestyle and they were left to reap no benefits, wouldn’t they?
Well that’s no problem for a man who called himself A. Campbell as after winning the Super Lotto in Jamaica, he went to collect his winnings with a scream mask on.
His thoughts were that his relatives wouldn’t then try to push him for cash and that by hiding his identity he wouldn’t be targeted for his $158.4 million scoop.
It wasn’t all peaches and gravy though, as it took Campbell a full 54 day to claim his prize down to him falling ill immediately after winning.
“I looked at my ticket and ran into my bathroom and said, ‘I won! I won!’ From the day I found out that I won, I’ve been sick.
My head hurt me for three days because I was thinking so much. [Wondering] if what I’ve been longing for really come true. I had a belly ache for two weeks, sometimes I feel so much pain I forgot that I had won.”
Campbell said that up until now, his life had been a struggle, but he endeavours to change that now.
“I want to get a house, I want to get a nice house. I haven’t found it yet, but I’ll be looking for one soon. I have a little business, so I plan to make it bigger, buy an apartment. I love to have money.”
He revealed that he bought the ticket on Omara Road in Kingston after seeing the winning numbers – 10, 14, 16, 25, 27 and the super ball 5 – in a dream. He spent 200 Jamaica Dollars on it and hasn’t looked back.
