Netflix are really sticking it to conventional TV at the moment. Not only are they making great original films and shows, but they’re improving where TV channels and film studios couldn’t.
We’re already due for a dark, gritty remake of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which is coming out in time for Halloween (watch the trailer below)
And now it looks like the streaming service is taking the much-loved American animated series Avatar and rebooting it as a life-action show.
Now, you may know that Avatar and live-action seldom go hand in hand, thanks to one M. Night Shyamalan, but Netflix have a pretty good track record with rebooting sacred properties so with any luck, this is going to be excellent.
Further justification for this reboot comes in the form of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who are working on this adaptation.
As of now, Netflix have released no further details about the series, so we don’t know who’ll be directing or acting or even when we can expect it by, but we’ll keep you updated with any news we get on the matter.
It’s about time!
