Didn’t you get the memo?

It’s #STRANGERTHINGSDAY

Yeah I missed it until just now as well, but apparently today, 6th November, marks the day that Will Byers originally went missing in the first season of Netflix’s popular show – going into the Upside Down on November 6, 1983.

The eagerly-anticipated third season of the show is currently in production and likely won’t drop new episodes until summer of 2019, but to keep things ticking over, and to properly celebrate the day, the official Stranger Things Twitter handle has kickstarted the hashtag “StrangerThingsDay”.

And what else have they done?

Well, I’ll tell you now; they’ve shared a very special video of the season three cast – almost in the style of an audition tape – celebrating the day.

Check it out below:

God I wish I was part of that group.

Do you think those kids realise how lucky they are to be part of a show like that?

As you’d expect with such a momentous day, people are sharing all sorts of tributes to the show.

Here’s some of the best:

Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) even shared a picture with Joey Keery who plays lovable rogue Steve Harrington:

Details are scarce about the upcoming season but the the official Stranger Things book, World Turned Upside Down, reveals it will take inspiration from George Romero (Night of the Living Dead), John Carpenter (Halloween) and David Cronenberg (The Fly).

Co-creator Ross Duffer is also quoted as saying that there are “horror movies and horror masters that we haven’t really paid tribute to as much in previous seasons that we are definitely going to get into this season.”

David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper also spoke to E! News about the upcoming season:

“This season they just came up with this arc and this idea that’s so original and so new that and so fun,

“What I can tell you is this, like you see season one you see season two and we’re playing with the same alphabet of these ’80s epics, but we’re kinda throwing out the model again and sort of expanding these characters in ways that you wouldn’t expect them to go in, so that’s what I love about it, is that you have these characters in this show that is clearly working and yet the Duffers are continuously interested in exploring the limits and taking risks and we take a lot of risks this season so there’s a lot of new relationships that get set-up and a lot of new devices and a lot of new cinematic influences.”

New Stranger Things AND Game Of Thrones next year?

Oh, we’re in for a treat.
