Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions at a Euros press conference have cost Coca-Cola $4bn.

Ronaldo, 36, removed two Coca-Cola bottles from his table during a press conference in Budapest on Monday ahead of his team’s match against Hungary.

Portugal’s captain then held up a bottle of water and said: “Drink water!”

The Soda titan’s share price fell from $56.10 to $55.22 moments after the Juventus player’s actions, a 1.6% drop that sent the market value of Coca-Cola from $242bn to $238bn.

Coca-Cola issued a statement on Tuesday saying that “everyone is entitled to their drink preferences” and their own “tastes and needs”.

A spokesperson for Euros said: “Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences.”

Portugal went on to defeat Hungary 3-0 with Ronaldo scoring two of the goals. He is now the tournament’s top goal scorer edging out French legend Michel Platini.

Ronaldo is a notorious health freak who is still at the top of his game well into his thirties.

The Sun reported that the club doctor at his former club, Real Madrid said he had the physical abilities of someone ten years younger, with the potential to play at the level he is now into his forties.

Paul Pogba removed a Heineken beer bottle from his table during a press conference on Tuesday following France’s 1-0 victory over Germany.

The Dutch brewing company is an official sponsor of Euros 2020 but the devout Muslim refused to give his support because alcohol is forbidden by his faith.

In 2018, Pogba, along with Kurt Zouma, made a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Viewers were rightly dismayed at the organizer’s actions.

One said: “Putting an alcoholic beverage in front of a Muslim is straight disrespect… You can’t blame Pogba here.”

Another said:  “He’s a Muslim. Why put beer in front of him? Sponsors must be rational.”

During the match in Munich, Pogba has confirmed that German defender Antonio Rudiger bit him.

He said: “It was nothing big. You saw the television pictures and it is all over now, in the past.

“He nibbled a little bit and I felt it so I told the ref but I am not crying for a yellow or a red card.

“Me and Toni have known each other for a long time and I just want to play football.

“He has not received any card and I don’t want him suspended because of that situation. We hugged at the end and it is over.”

Was the removal of the Coca-Cola bottles by Ronaldo disrespectful?
