Headlines we never thought we’d have to write…

Former President Donald Trump turned heads at the weekend, because of his trousers.

They weren’t particularly unusual, apart from the wrinkles that made them look a little odd.

Many people thought that the former president had his trousers on back to front.

The questioning overshadowed his speech on Saturday night.

“No, Trump Did Not Wear His Pants Backwards,” Snopes declared on Sunday.

The journalists there reviewed 90 minutes of footage from the event.

Staff there said surely there was a better use of time, but “We check what people us ask, so….”

Many people thought Trump might have had an accident that made the front of his trousers impossible to show.

However, critics say he might have simply been unaware that his pants were back to front.

Some eagle-eyed viewers raidied the archives, claiming in 2017 that two members of Trump’s inner circle, Hope Hicks and Corey Lewandowski, reportedly used a steamer to take wrinkles out of Trump’s pants.

The thing is, he was still wearing the trousers at the time

Snopes decided to clear things up.

They shared pictures, saying that the wire agency photos of Trump on the stage in Greenville, N.C., “clearly show the former president on stage wearing pants with a zipper in the front.”

“Snopes looked through photographs taken at the event and published by the visual media company Getty Images that clearly show the former president on stage wearing pants with a zipper in the front,” they wrote.

Many people aren’t sure how often people wear pants backwards.

However Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly of the rap group Kris Kross once said that for him, the group’s trademark reversal wasn’t even noticeable.

“Everybody always asks me that,” Kelly said in 2013. “But you have to understand I’ve been wearing my pants backwards for 21 years.”

The internet is a wonderful place, but did we really need fact-checkers to look at whether someone had got dressed in the dark that day?

“Others are noting this, but it can’t be shared enough: Donald Trump gave his big speech today with his pants on backwards. Look close and tell me I’m wrong,” Brandon Friedman tweeted.

And they added: “And a video posted by C-SPAN of the 90-minute speech also showed the former president wearing pants the right way. As such, we rate this claim as ‘False.’”

“I would like to see the expression on Trump’s face when his people tell him that the most popular response to his speech was amusement at his bunched, wrinkled pants,” wrote @NiftyNewHandle.

@Stephen_Douglas tweeted: “Want to feel old? This is what Kris Kross looks like today.”
