The latest trailer for Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald has been released and there’s a lot to take in; namely, what’s left of the actual film to be seen, but that’s neither here nor there.

There’s a couple of parts in particular that got people hyped for the upcoming addition to the Harry Potter series, and one of them has something to do with all of our favourites Dark Lord, mister Voldemort himself.

You’ll remember that Voldemort had a pet snake called Nagini, whom he went everywhere with and this particular snake became very important towards the latter films in the franchise.

Nagini was one of the Dark Lord’s many horcrux’s and was responsible for the death of ol’ Severus Snape – she made some enemies during her run in the films before her ultimate death at the hands of Neville Longbottom and the sword of Gryffindor lead to Voldemort’s demise.

But as the latest trailer for Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald reveals, Nagini was once a witch who was also an Animagus; one who could transfigure into the sneaky sshhhnaaaaaake.

Have a watch of the trailer…

OoooooOOOoooohhh. J.K. Rowling really does enjoy messing with the story she created years and years ago, doesn’t she?

How did Credence know? What was Nagini doing there? What can she do as a snake that she can’t do as a human witch that meant she had to transfigure in front of everyone there?!

Many questions, presumably one or two answers.

Kind of takes away the vibe of Voldemort speaking to snakes if the snake he’s constantly talking to was a literal person.

To its credit, the film does look good, I’m just annoyed that Johnny Depp’s in it. Even if you don’t consider the allegations against him – which you should – Colin Farrell’s performance and look in the first film was spot on. They really didn’t need to change that around.

Newt’s relationship with his brother looks fun. That should be a blast to delve into.

Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald will be in cinemas on the 16th of November.
