Parts Unknown is a television in which Anthony Bourdain visits areas of the world, perhaps off the beaten track, and immerses himself in the local politics, culture, and of course, food.

It’s a TV show loved by many people, not because of the format, but rather because of the host. Anthony Bourdain was one of the most genuine people in the world of media, and he was loved by everyone who worked with him and who watched his shows.

His untimely death was a shock to many, and serves to prove that mental health is a genuine issue that needs a light shone on it now more than ever.

Bourdain was in the midst of recording a new series of Parts Unknown when he sadly committed suicide, while filming in France.

However, CNN announced that they would go ahead with airing the series, using footage they got up until that point. With that in mind, they recently released a trailer for the next episode, in which Bourdain took United Shades of America host W. Kamau Bell on a trip to Nairobi, Kenya.

This was the only episode that Bourdain recorded a voice-over for, with the next episodes being narrated by the directors and producers, as well as some clips of Bourdain speaking during filming.

After his death, Bourdain’s mother told The New York Times:

He is absolutely the last person in the world I would have ever dreamed would do something like this.

You can understand where she was coming from, watching this trailer, as Bourdain says to Kamau:

As soon as the cameras turn off, the crew will be sitting around, we’ll be having a cocktail—I f*cking pinch myself,” Bourdain says to Bell. “I cannot fucking believe that I get to do this.

It will no doubt be a very emotional watch.
