Viewers Are Saying This New Anya Taylor-Joy Film Is the Best They’ve Ever Seen

The Menu was conceived as a biting satire of the restaurant industry, particularly focusing on the evil and corruption that lies at the core, and it was an instant hit.

It seems that although it only launched on HBO Max at the start of January, it has already accumulated rave reviews from viewers online…

“Ready for dinner? A couple who travels to an exclusive restaurant on a coastal island get the shock of their lives when they see what’s on the menu in this delectably horrifying satire starring Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo,” the description reads.

However, since the movie launched and took over the internet, some fans have noticed an unexpected consequence of the film. It seems the exposure of the fine dining industry has cut a little too close to home for one of the best restaurants in the world…

Now, in all of the world, there are only 142 restaurants that hold 3 Michelin stars. But across the most prestigious lists of fine dining experiences, there is one restaurant that usually comes out on top – NOMA, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

But recently, NOMA fans have had some devastating news – the institution is set to close its doors in 2024!

“The decision comes as NOMA and many other elite restaurants are facing scrutiny of their treatment of the workers, many of them paid poorly or not at all, who produce and serve these exquisite dishes,” the New York Times reports.

“The style of fine dining that NOMA helped create and promote around the globe — wildly innovative, labor-intensive and vastly expensive — may be undergoing a sustainability crisis.”

“It’s unsustainable,”  NOMA chef and founder René Redzepi continued.

“Financially and emotionally, as an employer and as a human being, it just doesn’t work. We have to completely rethink the industry. This is simply too hard.”

As the news broke on Twitter, though, many people pointed out the same thing. The release of The Menu seems to line up spookily with the news of NOMA’s closure!

In fact, people all over Twitter were quick to link these 2 events. “Wow NOMA is really giving The Menu which I believe the film is inspired from,” one wrote.

“On the heels of The Menu coming out, this is almost satirical, but can’t believe NOMA will finally be closed,” added another.

Despite this, viewers are still raving about the chaotic, and slightly gory film, with many sharing that it’s the “best movie” they have ever seen.  It even scored a whopping 89% on Rotten Tomatoes!

One Twitter user said: “The Menu is the best film I’ve watched in a long while. Original, well-acted, weird, and surprisingly moving. Blends horror & drama & comedy beautifully. Uses a single space enormously well. And keeps surprising us all the way to its last shot. Would make my top ten of 2022 for sure!”

Another person commented: “The Menu was one of the best new movies I’ve seen in the last decade. It’s not often that a movie has such a capacity to both shock me and make me laugh, as well as make a broad statement about obsessively refining one’s craft.”

”If you are searching for a fun movie to watch, The Menu is the best film I have seen in quite a long time!”, and a fourth added: “The Menu is the best movie of the decade. They can stop making movies for the next 10 years and just save themselves the effort of trying to top it,” a third said.
