Netflix Viewers Beg Others To Watch ‘Underrated’ Show So It Will Get A Second Season

Netflix is known for cancelling some of our most loved series, and fans of the new “underrated” series Lockwood & Co are worried it might also get the axe.

So much so, that dozens are taking to social media to urge others to watch the show so it gets renewed for a second season.

After debuting on the site on January 27, the eight-episode mystery horror was able to claim second place on Netflix UK’s Top 10 watchlist, which is no mean feat.

The show centers around Lucy (Ruby Stokes), a young woman with psychic talents, as well as Anthony (Cameron Chapman) and George (Ali Hadji-Heshmati), two young ghost hunters, who are the owners of Lockwood & Co. It is based on the book series written by author Jonathan Stout.

The synopsis reads: “In London, where the most gifted teenage ghost-hunters venture nightly into perilous combat with deadly spirits, amidst the many corporate, adult-run agencies, one stands alone: independent of any commercial imperative or adult supervision – a tiny startup, run by two teenage boys and a newly arrived, supremely psychically gifted girl, a renegade trio destined to unravel a mystery that will change the course of history: Lockwood & Co.”

Fans have been taking to social media to urge others to give the series a watch to ensure it bags another season.

“The way there was ZERO promotion for Lockwood & Co, I didn’t even know about it until I saw a scene on TikTok and I immediately started watching it,” one viewer wrote.

“This is turning into a daily post but everyone PLEASE tune into Lockwood and Co. I desperately need a season 2,” a second said.

“A great show y’all are missin’ out, #LockwoodandCo literally an amazing underrated Netflix series!” another commented. “It has all the twists and turns, mystery, thrill, awesome story dynamic and best casting! Hope it gets a 2nd season.”

Even comedian Nick Frost chimed in, posting: “Just to say I am absolutely LOVING Lockwood & Co. Go and have a watch! It’s a lot of fun and some super scares. I [heart] Ghosts.”

It’s understandable why fans would be worried, as Netflix has a habit of cancelling shows.

Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, has addressed the multitude of fans who have expressed their displeasure online regarding various show cancellations done by the streamer.

But it appears Sarandos stands by every decision he’s made, saying that the streaming site has “never cancelled a successful show.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, Sarandos and his co-CEO Greg Peters discussed the organisation’s policy on cancellation.

He said: “We have never cancelled a successful show. A lot of these shows were well-intended but talk to a very small audience on a very big budget.

“The key to it is you have to be able to talk to a small audience on a small budget and a large audience at a large budget. If you do that well, you can do that forever.”

Netflix’s recent decision to axe some popular shows including Warrior Nun, Inside Job, Uncoupled and 1899 came as a shock to viewers. Despite being well-loved by its fan base, there was no saving the show after 2 seasons for Warrior Nun as well as one season each for the other 3 shows.
