Mila Kunis has wowed audiences with her portrayal of a drug addict’s journey to sobriety, based on the real-life article by Eli Saslow in the Washington Post.

Mila Kunis is known for her incredible versatility on screen, appearing in the likes of Black Swan, and That 70s Show, as well as doing the voice work for Meg in Family Guy.

But one of her latest ventures titled Four Good Days, taps into the darker side of life, dealing with addiction and the domino effect it has on everyone in an addict’s life.

The synopsis reads: “In an emotional journey based on a true story by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post writer Eli Saslow, 31-year-old Molly begs her estranged mother Deb for help fighting a fierce battle against the demons that have derailed her life.

“Despite all she has learned over a decade of disappointment, grief and rage, Deb throws herself into one last attempt to save her beloved daughter from the deadly and merciless grip of heroin addiction. Powerhouse performances from Glenn Close and Mila Kunis anchor director Rodrigo García’s poignant and unpredictable chronicle of mother and daughter fighting to regain the love and trust that once held them together.”

Mila opened up about the challenges of the role to Yahoo Entertainment at the time: “The physicality of it becomes really challenging, and she’s just in a constant state of despair. My character never had any release. She just didn’t.

“So I was really happy that the film wasn’t a two-month-long production. You know, sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh, I wish this went on longer.’ I was very happy when it ended. I was like, ‘I’m good. This is enough.’”

Despite Four Good Days being released 2 years ago, the majority of viewers are only just learning about it now that it’s available on Netflix.

Some shared their thoughts on the hard-hitting movie online, with one writing: “I watched this 2 weeks ago and thought it was really good. Some Parts were hard to watch. From the heartache of a mother and her family to the struggles of an addict. Not all stories end up with a happy ending, but great that this one did…Both Actresses were Fantastic.”

While another commented: “Just watched Four Good Days on Netflix. Very powerful and related to it a lot… Addiction is scary, but coming through it is even scarier.

Mila Kunis and Glenn Close played both characters perfectly incredible work #FourGoodDays”

“Just watched Four Good Days on Netflix. An incredible, powerful, and important movie. It’s based on a true story but could have been based on any one of millions of true stories. Feel like I need a cup of tea and a hug now, though.” a third added.

Another agreed: “Just watched four good days on Netflix it was absolutely heartbreaking to watch. Seeing someone fighting to overcome and addiction was gut-wrenching. The performances from Glenn close and Mila Kunis were phenomenal. I have so much respect for anyone who has fought this battle.”
