Moonbin From K-Pop Group Astro Has Died Age 25

K-pop star Moonbin has died at the age of twenty-five, it has been announced by his record label Fantagio.

Fantagio shared a statement revealing the news.

“On April 19, Astro member Moon Bin unexpectedly left our world and became a star in the sky,” they shared on Twitter. They did not disclose anything more about the cause of death.

The statement requested that people “refrain from speculative and malicious reports” so that his family can have privacy during this difficult time.

Local media has been reporting that Moonbin was found unresponsive in his Gangnam apartment on Wednesday evening.

“He appears to have taken his own life but an autopsy is being reviewed to determine the exact cause of death,” the police have shared, per the BBC.

The star was best known for his work with the South Korean boy band Astro, as well as performing in the subgroup Moonbin & Sanha since 2020. He first debuted in the music scene back in 2016, when he first joined Astro.

However, he had been in the limelight since at least 2009, when he starred in the popular Korean drama Boys Over Flowers when he was eleven years old.

Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sua, is also a K-pop singer, and is a member of the girlband Billie.

Fans have responded to Fantagio’s announcement by sharing their heartbreak.

One person wrote: “Rest in peace Moonbin, I hope you’re happy and healthy wherever you are! I love you so much, thank you for being someone that helped me through a lot, and I’m sorry I couldn’t do that same for you. Please rest in peace, i’ll never forget you.”

Another said: “With my heart in my hands and my head still in shock, I offer my deepest condolences to his family, Astro members, his Aroha fans, and every single person Moonbin made so happy. Moonbin-ah you will shine forever in the sky and you will always remain in our hearts.”

A third shared: “I cant believe this. I’ve stanned astro since 2018, they were one of my first kpop groups. I enjoyed their content so much. And this is just so heartbreaking to me. While in class also. Its so hard. I cant even imagine his family, members and friends feelings. Rest in peace, bin.”

Rest in peace, Moonbin.
