A man who spent $14,000 transforming himself into a collie dog has gone for his first ever walk out and about in public.
The Japanese private citizen, who goes by the name Toco online, revealed that the outfit has helped him realise his dream of “becoming an animal.”
Toco shared footage of his new look to his YouTube channel, where he has amassed nearly 40,000 subscribers, of his various escapades in the suit. Previously, he has shared footage of him in his canine costume completing doggy tasks such as fetch, rolling on the floor and playing on grass.
However, his latest video has sent his mission of becoming an animal viral, as he ventured out into the real world for the first time. The 5-minute long video has amassed over 3.7 million views on YouTube at the time of writing, and shows Toco interacting with various members of the public, humans and dogs alike!
“Do you remember your dreams from when you are little? You want to be a hero or a wizard,” he wrote alongside the clip, adding that he previously felt his had been “unrealistic.”
“I remember writing in my grade school graduation book that I wanted to be a dog and walk outside.”
“When I fulfilled that dream, this is how it turned out,” he continued. He added that he chose to become a collie as the size of the dog was best to match his human stature.
The company that made the impressive hyperrealistic costume is called Zeppet, and it was revealed that it cost $2 million Yen in total, equating to roughly $14,161.
“I rarely tell my friends because I am afraid they will think I am weird,” Toco told the Mirror. “My friends and family seemed very surprised to learn I became an animal.”
“I don’t want my hobbies to be known, especially by the people I work with,” he further revealed to the Daily Mail.“They think it’s weird that I want to be a dog. For the same reason why I can’t show my real face.”
