Liberty Poole has candidly discussed her tumultuous relationship with Mitch Taylor following their elimination from “Love Island” in a dramatic public vote. The couple, recently voted as the least-loved in ITV’s latest poll, were promptly asked to leave the villa by host Maya Jama.
Despite their decision to split and explore other connections just a day earlier, it wasn’t enough to save their place in the show. Reflecting on her departure, Liberty told The Sun, “It’s bittersweet to be leaving Love Island. I had the best time in the world, I made new friendships everyday and I feel like I learnt a lot about myself.”
Liberty and Mitch’s relationship, which started on day one, initially showed promise but eventually succumbed to frequent disagreements. Liberty described the experience: “At first we had this instant connection and it was really nice as we both fancied each other, but in the end we just couldn’t agree on certain things so we had to part ways. Being with Mitch was like being with sunshine, rain and wind all in one. There is no bad blood between us though.”
Adding to the complexity of her journey was the presence of her ex, Jake Cornish, from the 2021 season. Liberty shared, “It was a shock to see Jake. I certainly didn’t expect it but it actually was good to see him. After seeing him again in the villa, I feel like we have come full circle, it was nice to see how he’s grown. He’s matured so much. I think we can now be friends. I’m really glad he came back in and we have had the closure we needed.”
Liberty also highlighted some of the strong connections in the villa, mentioning, “There are quite a few with strong connections now. Molly and Tom are definitely really into each other, as are Josh and Sophie.”
Speaking about leaving her best friend Kaz Kamwi in the villa, Liberty expressed, “It wouldn’t have been the same without her! To be able to do the experience again with my best friend was amazing. I’m sad to go without her, but she’s going to smash it and hopefully find love and get to the final.”
