Elon Musk has expressed disapproval of MacKenzie Scott’s charitable endeavors, suggesting that “Super rich ex-wives who hate their former spouse” should be listed among the reasons for the decline of Western Civilization. This remark, made on X, alludes to Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife. Musk’s criticism of Scott appears rooted in his staunch opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, which he has vocally condemned as a form of racism.

This isn’t the first instance of Musk targeting Scott for her philanthropy. He previously cited her contributions to political action committees disguised as charities as a reason for his Republican voting inclination, accusing the Democratic Party of neglecting his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, potentially due to Scott’s donations.

Scott, who received a significant portion of Amazon shares following her divorce from Bezos, has made substantial waves in philanthropy. Her approach differs notably from conventional philanthropists, as she opts for a no-strings-attached approach, garnering praise for providing autonomy to recipient organizations.

In contrast, Bezos, Scott’s ex-husband, has expressed challenges in navigating philanthropy effectively, likening it to the complexities of building Amazon. While Bezos intends to give away his wealth, he acknowledges the difficulty in doing so strategically.

Despite Musk’s criticism of Scott, he also engages in philanthropy, notably through the Musk Foundation, which he co-founded with his brother Kimbal. The foundation supports various causes, including renewable energy, space exploration, and artificial intelligence.
