This ordeal, which left Savage merely 12 hours away from death, started innocuously while he was watching television at home, only to turn into a fight for survival against sepsis, triggered by the spider’s venom.
Savage, unaware that his home had become a breeding ground for these venomous arachnids, felt a pinprick sensation on his arm, followed by a second bite on his hand. The immediate onset of symptoms, including the development of black boils and a rapid deterioration in his health, signaled the gravity of the situation. His call to emergency services was timely, as he collapsed soon after and was rushed to Wexham Park Hospital.
