Princess Kate has opened up about the emotional moment she disclosed her cancer diagnosis to her children, revealing the heartbreak and the reassurance she offered to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Following her successful abdominal surgery in January, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy after traces of cancer were found during post-surgery tests. Kate has chosen to step back from the public eye to focus on her recovery and commence her treatment.

In a poignant statement, Kate shared the profound impact the news had on her family and how they carefully approached the delicate task of informing their children. She emphasised the importance of reassuring them, saying, “I am going to be ok.”

“As you can imagine, this has taken time,” Kate expressed. “It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”

She continued, highlighting her resilience and the support she receives from her husband, Prince William, and the outpouring of love from well-wishers: “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

Kate also appealed for privacy as she continues her journey towards recovery, acknowledging the need for space and time to focus on her treatment while expressing gratitude for the support received from the public and her medical team.
