Angelina Jolie Claims Brad Pitt Abuse Started ‘Well Before’ 2016 Plane Incident

Angelina Jolie has leveled accusations against her former spouse Brad Pitt, alleging that his physical abuse toward her began well before the 2016 plane incident that led to their divorce, according to documents obtained by Page Six.

In a bold move on Thursday, Jolie’s legal team made these claims in an effort to release communications that would demonstrate Pitt’s refusal to allow her to sell her stake in their Chateau Miraval French winery unless she agreed to a restrictive nondisclosure agreement (NDA).

The documents assert, “While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”

The proposed NDA, as alleged by Jolie’s lawyers, would encompass Pitt’s “personal misconduct, whether related to Miraval or not,” aiming to prevent her from discussing his alleged abuse.

Furthermore, Jolie’s legal team claimed that Pitt wanted her to sign the NDA after discovering in 2021 that she had submitted sealed documents to aid in their child custody dispute.

According to the filing, Pitt initially agreed to buy Jolie’s shares of the winery but allegedly backed out due to concerns that her sealed documents “could eventually become public.”

Paul Murphy, Jolie’s attorney, stated, “By refusing to buy her interest but then suing her, Mr. Pitt put directly at issue why that NDA was so important to him and what he hoped it would bury: his abuse of Ms. Jolie and their family.”

A source close to Pitt shared that Jolie tends to offer “irrelevant or inaccurate information” in court filings whenever she faces legal setbacks. The insider added, “There’s a pattern that every time she loses, she continues to come back to this… there’s nothing new here.”

In previous documents obtained by the publication in June 2023, Pitt claimed that Jolie sold her shares of Château Miraval out of spite after he was granted joint custody of their six children. However, this decision was later overturned.

The legal battle also involves disputes over NDAs, with Jolie allegedly presenting a broader agreement compared to Pitt’s team, which offered a standard NDA intended solely to protect the business.

The former power couple purchased Château Miraval together in 2008, a property renowned for its acclaimed sparkling rosé wine. In addition to their winery, Jolie and Pitt are entangled in a custody dispute over their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
