Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson pleads with fans to ‘be kind’ after giving major health update

Six years after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, Louise Thompson, known for her role in Made in Chelsea, has provided her fans with an update on her health and urged online trolls to show kindness.

The reality TV star has been candid about her health struggles over the years, including severe complications following the birth of her son Leo in 2021, which resulted in hospitalisation for several weeks. Alongside physical health challenges, Louise has also faced mental health difficulties, including PTSD.

In addition to battling Lupus since 2022, Louise has been coping with ulcerative colitis since 2018, a condition characterised by inflammation of the colon and rectum, leading to symptoms such as ulcers, bleeding, and weight loss.

Earlier this year, Louise took a break from social media, sparking concern among fans about her well-being. Her partner, Ryan Libbey, shared that she had been hospitalised due to a colitis flare-up while on holiday with their son.

In a courageous Instagram post, Louise revealed that she underwent a colostomy, a surgical procedure involving diverting one end of the colon through an opening in the abdomen, and now has a stoma bag fitted to collect stool. Despite the challenges, Louise expressed gratitude for improved health and bid farewell to her problematic colon.

In her Instagram caption, Louise asked for kindness from her followers, and she was met with an outpouring of supportive messages from both fans and celebrities. Love Island star Zara McDermott and This Morning’s Dr. Zoe Williams were among those who praised Louise for her bravery and resilience.

Louise’s openness about her health journey serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating strength in facing challenges head-on and fostering a community of support and compassion.
