Rihanna Slammed By Christians For ‘Blasphemous’ Racy Photoshoot

Rihanna’s latest magazine cover shoot has stirred controversy among some fans.

Interview Magazine recently unveiled Rihanna, 36, as the cover star for their 2024 Spring edition. Captured by Nadia Lee Cohen and styled by the magazine’s editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg, the ‘Diamonds’ singer graced the cover in a white shirt and a religious headpiece. In a video accompanying the cover, Rihanna posed for the camera while concealing her left breast.

Additional images from the shoot showcased Rihanna sporting a blonde wig and an oversized cardigan, along with a bleached-brow headshot. Another picture depicted the mother-of-two topless, with a pen strategically covering her modesty.

Unfortunately, some fans criticized the star, accusing her of disrespecting Christianity with the images. Venting their frustrations on Instagram, one user remarked, “Christianity gets disrespected way too openly.” Another questioned, “Mocking Christianity as usual!”

Despite the backlash, many fans came to Rihanna’s defense. One supporter quipped, “The comments are hilarious… this is slightly resembling a nun outfit and that’s the offending part? Get a grip.” Another simply cheered, “Ya look good RiRi!!!!”

In her cover interview titled ‘Rihanna is Ready to Confess,’ the star referenced God when asked about her plans for children, stating, “As many as God wants me to have.”

This isn’t Rihanna’s first foray into religious imagery. In 2018, she made waves at the Met Gala with a Heavenly Bodies-themed ensemble. However, she faced criticism the following year for using a controversial song, ‘Doom’ by Coucou Chloe, which includes a Muslim text, at her Savage X Fenty lingerie show. Rihanna swiftly issued an apology to the Islamic community, emphasizing her respect for all religions and pledging to prevent such incidents in the future.
