EasyJet has responded after Vicky Pattison criticised the airline for being banned from a flight to Italy over passport regulations.

The former Geordie Shore star, 36, was set to fly out of Newcastle to continue her wedding preparations with fiancé Ercan Ramadan in September. However, her plans were thwarted when her slightly damaged passport led to her being turned away from the EasyJet flight, leaving her in tears and venting her frustration on Instagram.

Vicky shared her disappointment with fans on Instagram stories, expressing her devastation at being denied boarding due to her dog chewing her passport. She lamented the situation, feeling heartbroken as the rest of her party continued their journey to see her dream wedding venue.

In a series of posts, Vicky shared her dismay: “Thought we were off to see our wedding venue today, we were so excited… Only to have the @easyjet staff turn me away… I’m just beyond gutted you know? My wedding planner, her assistant, my florist, everyone are all heading out… And I’m just heading home… to have a really good cry I think.”

Accompanying her posts was a photo of the damage to her passport caused by her dog, Milo. Following her emotional outpour on social media, EasyJet issued a response, expressing regret for Vicky’s experience while emphasising their commitment to passenger safety and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

A spokesperson for the airline stated: “We are sorry for Ms. Pattison’s experience and the inconvenience caused… It is the passenger’s responsibility to have suitable documentation for travel.”

The airline responded;

“As such, we cannot allow any passenger to travel on their planned flight with documentation damaged to such a degree that its authenticity is brought into question. It is the passenger’s responsibility to have suitable documentation for travel.”

Vicky’s fiancé, Ercan, proposed to her in February 2022 in Dubai, and since then, planning their wedding has been described as “overwhelming” and “expensive.” Despite the setbacks, Vicky has expressed gratitude for Ercan’s support during the wedding preparations.
