Hollywood Producer Launches Attack On Sydney Sweeney: “She Isn’t Pretty”

According to the Daily Mail, top Hollywood producer Carol Baum, known for her work on films like “Father of the Bride” and its sequel, reportedly made critical remarks about rising star Sydney Sweeney during a recent discussion after a screening of her 1988 film “Dead Ringers.”

Baum allegedly expressed confusion about Sweeney’s popularity, stating, “I don’t get Sydney Sweeney,” during the event at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, N.Y. She recounted watching Sweeney’s latest film, “Anyone But You,” during a flight and finding it “unwatchable.”

Following her viewing, Baum questioned her students at The University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts about Sweeney’s appeal. She reportedly remarked, “I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”

Despite her reservations about Sweeney’s talent and attractiveness, Baum admitted she might not refuse to produce a movie featuring Sweeney if it meant the project would move forward. She acknowledged, “We all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know.”

Sweeney, known for her roles in HBO’s “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” earned an Emmy nomination for her performance in the former. However, her recent film “Anyone But You” received mixed reviews despite its box office success, grossing over $200 million worldwide.

Responding to rumors of an affair with her co-star Glen Powell, Sweeney clarified the situation during her hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live,” stating, “That’s obviously not true. Me and my fiancé [Jonathan Davino] produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot.”
