MAFS Australia bride ‘humiliated’ as groom caught texting another woman behind her back

During the final commitment ceremony of Married at First Sight Australia 2024, one bride was left horrified and “humiliated” upon discovering that her husband had been texting another woman behind her back. Lauren, married to Jono, was shocked to learn about his communication with Ellie, another bride in the experiment.

Ellie, previously married to Ben, had a brief marriage on the show before leaving. Tori, another bride in the series, revealed that Ellie and Jono were regularly texting, unbeknownst to Lauren.

Lauren’s reaction was filled with tears and anguish upon learning about Jono’s betrayal. She expressed her feelings, saying, “It is just a bit triggering for me, in the past I have looked like the fool. I feel hurt and betrayed. I feel like I’ve been lied to… I look stupid, it is just humiliating.”

Expressing her lack of trust in Jono, Lauren added, “It is not good enough for me… I just don’t feel like I can trust Jono right now.” Despite Jono’s attempts to explain that his texts to Ellie were innocent, both fellow brides and experts, including romance expert John Aiken, found his behaviour unacceptable.

John emphasised, “Jono, you need to understand, this is not acceptable… it creates an insecurity in the relationship, it erodes the foundation.” The episode also saw another couple, Lucinda and Timothy, decide to end their relationship and leave the show at the final commitment ceremony.
