Elon Musk has shared the real reason for the ultimatum email he sent to all federal employees.
Musk and Donald Trump sent a brutal email to all federal employees requesting one thing or they will be classed as resigned.
The duo have wasted no time in changing things when it comes to the federal government.
Billionaire Elon Musk has been gifted the title of ‘special government employee’ on top of being the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), whose main goal is to ‘dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies’ according to Trump.
On Saturday last week, Musk shared an ultimatum that was given to all federal employees by way of email.
The email asks that officials explain what they have done in the last week. If they fail to respond by 11.59pm ET on Monday, they’ll be essentially handing in their resignation.
Sharing on Twitter, now X, Musk wrote: “Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week.
“Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”
One federal employee shared online what the email said. They shared: “Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager”, “Please do not send any classified information, links, or attachments.
“Deadline is this Monday at 11:59pmEST.”

He has since updated on Monday morning that any federal worker who failed to submit their achievements by 11:59PM would “soon be furthering their career elsewhere.”
He then responded to another X user, who said “So this is just my thought but I don’t believe the email Elon sent was actually to see what people are doing. I think it was to see who was part of the leftist resistance. Just a thought,” to which Musk responded: “It was to see who had a pulse and two working neurons.”

The FBI and other government agencies have told employees to ignore the email.
FBI director, Kash Patel has asked employees to “pause any responses.”
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) confirmed Musk’s email was authentic, but Patel added: “FBI personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information,”
“The FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with the FBI procedures.”
The state department sent a similar message stating that leadership would respond in the employees behalf: “No employee is obligated to report their activities outside of their Department chain of command.” said Tibor Nagy, acting undersecretary for management.
The Pentagon wrote to its employees: “When and if required, the Department will coordinate responses to the email you have received from OPM.”
