From cast details to storyline hints, the new series is bringing a fresh generation to the iconic beaches
The Baywatch reboot is officially moving full speed ahead, and it is not leaving its roots behind.
After reports suggested filming might be disrupted, it has now been confirmed that production will continue across Los Angeles’ most iconic beaches, including Venice Beach, Marina del Rey and Redondo Beach.
So yes, the lifeguards are staying right where you would expect them.
The new series is a reimagining of the original drama that first launched in 1989, but this time the focus shifts to a new generation.
At the centre of it all is Hobie Buchannon.

Originally introduced as Mitch Buchannon’s son in the classic series, Hobie is now all grown up and stepping into a leadership role as a Baywatch captain, played by Stephen Amell. The story follows him as he mentors a new team of lifeguards, including his own daughter, while dealing with high stakes rescues along the coast.

And the cast is stacked.
Alongside Amell, the series features Shay Mitchell as a former lawyer turned lifeguard, Noah Beck as a rookie trying to prove himself, and Jessica Belkin as Charlie, Hobie’s daughter who arrives in search of a fresh start.
There is also Hassie Harrison as a former Olympic athlete, Thaddeus LaGrone as a Marine veteran, and Livvy Dunne making her acting debut as a junior lifeguard.
Plus, there is one familiar face returning.
David Chokachi is set to reprise his original role as Cody Madison, now running a beachside bar while acting as a mentor figure to the new crew.

The dynamic between the characters is already shaping up to be anything but simple.
Tensions are expected between Hobie and fellow lifeguard Selene, played by Brooks Nader, while the mix of rookies, veterans and personal connections adds another layer to the team.
The reboot will span 12 episodes and is set to premiere in the 2026 to 2027 season, marking a new chapter for the long running franchise that originally starred names like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

It is a familiar setting, but a very different story. With a new cast, updated dynamics and a focus on the next generation, Baywatch looks ready to dive back in.
