Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein are facing fresh romance rumours, four months after publicly insisting they were not dating. This time, the speculation comes with a new claim from an anonymous source and a night out in Los Angeles that has put their relationship back under scrutiny.

According to a Page Six report published on October 19, the 57-year-old singer and actress and the 46-year-old Ted Lasso star are seeing each other, with a source describing their relationship as "casual". Neither Lopez nor Goldstein has publicly confirmed the claim.

The report followed their appearance at talent manager Cade Hudson's party in Los Angeles on October 16. The two reportedly travelled in the same vehicle but entered the event separately, with Lopez arriving alongside her longtime manager, Benny Medina. They were also reported to have left together.

While the outing has renewed interest in their personal lives, sharing a car does not establish that the two are romantically involved. And there is another detail worth revisiting: what Lopez and Goldstein actually said when the subject came up earlier this year.

Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein previously denied dating

On June 2, while promoting their Netflix romantic comedy Office Romance, the actors appeared together on NBC's Today show, where Savannah Guthrie asked directly whether their on-screen relationship had developed into a real one.

Lopez explained that she regularly faces speculation about her relationships with male colleagues. Goldstein joked that simply standing near her was enough to trigger dating rumours.

When Guthrie pressed them for a definitive answer, Lopez replied, "Not dating." Goldstein immediately agreed, saying, "Correct."

Those comments established their public position in June. They do not necessarily contradict a report about a possible relationship beginning later, but neither actor has provided an updated statement confirming that their circumstances have changed.

Goldstein really did write a romantic comedy specifically for Lopez

One of the more unusual details behind the speculation is entirely verifiable: Goldstein helped create Office Romance with Lopez specifically in mind.

In a June 4 interview published by Netflix, Goldstein explained that he and fellow Ted Lasso writer Joe Kelly came up with the idea while discussing their favourite romantic comedies during a train journey between Manchester and London.

Both independently identified Lopez as their dream leading actress. They subsequently developed the screenplay for her despite never having met her.

Goldstein recalled that they were unsure whether the project would ever happen, but sent Lopez the script anyway, making it clear that she was their only choice for the leading role.

Lopez, meanwhile, revealed that she was already a fan of Ted Lasso, particularly Goldstein's character Roy Kent. Their mutual professional admiration eventually brought them together for the film, which premiered on Netflix on June 5, 2026.

The movie stars Lopez as Jackie Cruz, the CEO of an airline, and Goldstein as Daniel Blanchflower, a company lawyer who becomes romantically involved with her. Their performances and promotional appearances helped generate the original dating speculation.

However, the fact that Goldstein wrote the film for Lopez is evidence of his admiration for her work, not confirmation of a romantic relationship.

So are Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein actually together?

For now, the answer remains unconfirmed.

The latest report rests on an unnamed source speaking to Page Six, alongside accounts of the actors attending the same Los Angeles party and reportedly travelling together. Page Six said representatives for both stars did not respond to its requests for comment.

What is established is that Lopez and Goldstein denied being a couple in June, appeared together again in October, and have since become the subject of a new dating claim. Whether their relationship has genuinely changed since that television interview remains something neither has publicly addressed.
