Seth Rogen Says He Doesn’t Want To Be A Parent Because It ‘Does Not Sound Fun’

Seth Rogen has admitted that he is not planning to have kids anytime soon or, well, anytime at all! The star of Knocked Up and Pineapple Express admitted that parenthood “does not sound fun”, and so he plans to steer clear.

Rogen made the remarks while in conversation with Howard Stern (a father of 3, in case you were wondering). Stern told the forty-year-old that he was “glad” Rogen didn’t have kids, because the actor is “into so many things and so many projects” that he didn’t think he could dedicate the time children need.

Rogen avidly agreed: “I wouldn’t be able to do all this work that I like,” he said as one of his justifications for a childless life.

He continued: “People are always like — it’s something I think I was uncomfortable answering this before — but they were like, ‘How do you do so much?’ The answer is I don’t have kids.

“Like, if people are like, ‘How do you do pottery and write a book and make all these movies and TV shows?’ It’s that I don’t have kids. I have nothing else to do.”

Stern concurred, saying that Rogen’s listed hobbies “require time and self-involvement”, and so “why put a kid through that if you don’t have time” for them.

The pair then moved on to discussing Rogen’s wife of over ten years and fellow actor, Lauren Miller, and how she agrees with his view.

“I would say she wants kids less than I do,” Rogen scoffed. “I could probably be talked into it. She’s like ‘no.’”

Stern then asked if Miller had wanted lots of kids, if that would have been a deal breaker for their relationship. The Superbad star explained that he believed he “could wrap [his] head around it”, but because Miller’s view is so strong they have decided to stay childless. He said this was one of the reasons the pair have “so much fun”.

“I don’t know anyone who gets as much happiness out of their kids as we get out of our non-kids,” he explained.

“Like, we’re f**king psyched all the time! We’re laying in bed on Saturday mornings smoking w**d, like watching movies n*ked. If we had kids, we could not be f**king doing this.

“There is no one whose child is giving them as much joy as we are right now getting because we do not have a kid.”

Stern then expanded his thoughts on life with children: “You can’t be narcissistic, you have to give yourself over to parenting, and they’ve gotta become the priority.”

To which Rogen gave a pretty hilarious response: “Yeah, like, I don’t want that. That does not sound fun to me. And why? There’s enough kids out there.”

“Who looks at the planet right now, and thinks you know what we need, more f**king people?”

Fans have responded with support for the star. One commented: “Glad, I found this. Now I can share this video to all those who pester me to have kids.”

Another said: “I respect him so much for knowing he wouldn’t be able to be a good father. So many people have kids and still do what they want, when you have a kid you’re signing up for that. More power to him and his wife.”
