Ana de Armas Says She Is In ‘Pain’ After Keanu Reeves Fight

Actress Ana de Armas has opened up about what it was like to work alongside Keanu Reeves in the upcoming John Wick spin-off, Ballerina.

It turns out, in true John Wick style, we have more than a few fight scenes to look forward to, which has reportedly left Armas in “pain.”

De Armas has been thrust into the spotlight over the last few years. You might know her best as the young nurse Marta Cabrera in the hit mystery Knives Out, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.

This ultimately shot her to fame, and as a result, landed her some incredible roles…

One of the most famous being as the Bond girl Paloma, in James Bond’s latest movie No Time to Die. This was followed by the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, which came out last year, in which she played the iconic movie star. The latter earned her another nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

However, she did receive some backlash for her portrayal of the icon, particularly for an uncomfortable scene, which saw Monroe have a conversation with her unborn child.

But the controversy was later quashed by Monroe’s estate, who defended Armas, saying she “was a great casting choice.”

And it seems the variety of her performances caught the eye of John Wick producers because she was quickly snapped up to play the lead in their latest spin-off.

The upcoming action thriller, Ballerina, stars de Armas as an unlikely ballerina-turned-assassin, Rooney, who goes on a rampage in search of revenge after hitmen kill her family.

As the film takes place in the John Wick universe, fans will also get to see some of their favourite faces reprise their roles…

Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Anjelica Huston will all make an appearance, as well as John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves. And de Armas has recently shared that he didn’t hold back when it came to shooting their fight scenes.

It seems the pair will have at least one action sequence in the movie.

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ana de Armas updated fans on the movie, revealing: “We’ve been in Prague filming for four months. We still have one more month to go. And I’m in pain. My body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining, I’m sore, I’m bruised.”

Trying to reassure her that she has already proved her ability as an action star, Jimmy Fallon mentioned her role in the James Bond hit No Time to Die.

“Bond was fifteen minutes, this is a whole movie, another level,” de Armas responded.

She added: “The other day, Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing these crazy stunts. And I’m like, I can’t complain anymore, I’m done. Because he is doing it!”

She added that he never complains, sharing: “He truly is the best.”
