Maya Jama made a brilliant entrance as the newest host of Love Island and gave fans an insight into her experience through her behind-the-scenes shots from the first episode.
The news that Jama would be taking over as host came out last year, when the twenty-eight-year-old was unveiled as the fresh presenter of the popular dating series. It followed Laura Whitmore’s announcement that she would be departing the show due to “new conflicting projects.”
During the first episode, which aired last night, we met the contestants of the show and saw them couple up for the first time.
Girls, Tanya Manhenga, Lana Jenkins, Anna-May Robey, Tanyel Revan and Olivia Hawkins have all made their way to the villa seeking love. Similarly, boys, Kai Fagan, Ron Hall, Will Young, Shaq Muhammad and Haris Namani have also joined in on the quest.
When it came to the secret bombshell, Tom Clare’s entry caused quite a stir, adding to the already-high drama levels. The footballer walked into the villa after the five couples had been paired up already.
He will have to familiarise himself with the girls before coming to a conclusion on who he wants to couple up with; his ultimate decision will consequently leave one of the remaining boys in danger.
But getting back to Jama, It was evident from the moment she set foot inmfront of the camera that Jama had what it takes to make a great host. Her enthusiasm for the show was evident and her entrance wearing a fashionable red two-piece crochet outfit was remarkable! The TV and radio star truly delivered an unforgettable series opener.
After the first episode aired, Jama took to social media to share her first message following her successful debut.
Displaying her stunning figure, Maya posted a series of images to Instagram while wearing a close-fitting black dress.
“Overwhelmed from last night, thank you so much for your kind words..” She captioned the post which featured a video of her iconic Love Island entrance.
She then added: “Who’s ready for tonight’s episode?”
It didn’t take long for other celebrities to flood the comment section of her post, sharing their thoughts on her impressive entrance.
Presenter of Chicken Shop Date, Amelia Dimoldenberg was quick on the mark to let Jama know just how effortless she was, writing: “You were amazing, a natural! The main reason I’m watching.”
Leigh-Ann Pinnock, member of Little Mix, said: “Actual vision.” While 2019 contestant of the show Molly Mae Hague commented: “Incredible.”
Actress Jameela Jamil went as far as to say she “Broke the internet. Broke the world.”
Fans also jumped in, with one writing: “Unfair for you to be hotter than the islanders.” Another commented: “I thought you was the bombshell for a sec, Maya give the contestants a chance sis.”
“Unreal my absolutely girl crush,” a third gushed.
Someone else added: “Congratulations! The nations favourite host . Killing the game geeze.”
It’s clear Maya Jama has made a real impression with her debut as the host of the second ever winter series.
And she’ll be back on our screens tonight, along with another bombshell, Ellie Spence, who is about to join the villa, and is sure to bring further disruption.
