The latest Harry Potter-themed video game, Hogwarts Legacy, has revealed an exciting twist for players wanting to learn the dark arts.

Just like in the books, learning the killing spell Avada Kedavra will have serious consequences for your character.

However, anyone interested in learning the Dark Arts must first enroll in a class taught by Sebastian Sallow of the Slytherin house before beginning their quest.

You may even engage him in combat in a hidden dueling ring close to the Forbidden Forest after learning more about his enigmatic lineage.

After completing essential training with Sallow, players will then be given the opportunity to learn one of the unforgivable curses, but it’s not an easy path, as you will have to make it to  level twenty-eight before you can even start.

However, there is the opportunity to explore other areas of Hogwarts and the detailed area around the school if you don’t feel like challenging Voldemort just yet.

Elsewhere in the game players will be introduced to a variety of other characters they can interact with in the secondary storyline.

Writer Moira Squier told GAMINGbible: “As for consequences, let’s just say that the choices the player makes with regard to Dark Magic earlier in the game will impact the choices available to them later in the game. As in life, choices have consequences.”

Fans are understandably excited to hear this, with one writing: “I’ll make Grindelwald & Voldemort seem like Care Bears once I’m done with this game.”

While another commented: “My Gryffindor nice girl “heroine” type won’t be touching them, however, my Slytherin bully wearing her dark arts robes will never waste a second.”

“I don’t care about the consequences, everyone is getting the smoke,” a third said.

The deluxe edition of the game is now available, and players were shocked to find out that developers have introduced their first trans character, Sirona Ryan.

Although this is a huge step, under the circumstances, players aren’t entirely happy with J.K. Rowling profiting off the game.

Despite the lack of pre-release marketing, Sirona Ryan is part of the playable storyline and runs the Three Broomsticks tavern in the game.

Speaking out about the move, a representative of Portkey Games revealed: “it has been a high priority throughout the development of Hogwarts Legacy to create a game that is representative and diverse, aligning with our wonderful fan community.”

They continued, “The team felt that it was very important to create a game that is representative of the rich and diverse world of Harry Potter as well as the groups of people who play games, which includes the LGBTQIA+ community. We have a diverse cast of characters that players will encounter throughout the game.”

Social media users have spoken out on the name choice, with many unsatisfied with what developers went with.

One wrote: “f***ing hell they called the ONLY trans witch in like, ALL OF BRITAIN, SIRona RYAN. Call her Dudette McBro at this point.”

While another commented: “A name like Sirona Ryan for a trans woman is the most Harry Potter thing I’ve ever heard.”
