Former Miss World Contestant Sherika De Armas Dies Aged 26

Former Miss World contestant Sherika De Armas has died aged just twenty-six years old.

De Armas was known for representing Uruguay in the Miss World competition back in 2015, when she was just eighteen years old.

The New York Post has reported that she passed away after a battle against cervical cancer.

The outlet said that she had been fighting against the disease for 2 years.

De Armas’ friends and family have been sharing their tributes online.

“Fly high, little sister. Always and forever,” her brother, Mayk’ De Armas, wrote on social media.

Carla Romero, who currently holds the title of Miss Uraguay, said that De Armas was “too evolved for this world. One of the most beautiful women I have ever met in my life.”

“I remember you with that beautiful glow,” Anto Ciavaglia, a close friend of the star, wrote.

The Miss World competition that De Armas took part in was held in Sanya, China. Although she failed to reach the top thirty, she was one of just 6 eighteen year olds to take part that year.

She was praised for her “beautiful face, towering height and charismatic personality,” as well as being dubbed “one of the young promising talents of Uruguay.”

“I always wanted to be a model, whether a beauty model, an advertising model or a catwalk model,” she once said in an interview with NetUraguay.

“I like everything related to fashion and I think that within a beauty pageant, any girl’s dream is to have the opportunity to participate in Miss Universe. I am very happy to be able to live this experience full of challenges.”

De Armas was also known to sell personal care, makeup, and hair items via the Shey De Armas Beauty Studio.

She also reportedly spent a lot of her time working with Pérez Scremini Foundation, a childhood cancer organisation.
