The hotly anticipated fight between Tommy Fury and KSI took place over the weekend, but a scorecard error has resulted in the results being officially changed.
Former Love Island star Fury came out victorious against KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji. However, the YouTuber wasn’t best pleased with the result, and has said he will be appealing it.
The results of the fight, which took place at the AO Arena in Manchester, left fans confused after the scorecards were released.
It turns out that judge Rafael Ramos had totalled up KSI’s score wrong, and ended up giving both him and Fury fifty-seven points each.
Per LADBible, the judge gave KSI ten points for the first 2 rounds, and then 9 points in each of the remaining 6 rounds, meaning he scored the thirty-year-old fifty-six points overall. However, in the ‘total’ box at the bottom of the scorecard, he wrote fifty-seven points.
The match’s 2 other judges scored Fury fifty-seven to KSI’s fifty-six, meaning Fury came out victorious with a judge’s majority.
The official result of the game has now been updated to show the actual scores, and means that Fury officially won the match unanimously, via talkSPORT.
In a post-match interview, Fury revealed that he wasn’t best pleased with his performance.
“Was it my best performance? No absolutely not, but we knew it was going to be a stink fest, because one man didn’t want to come to fight,” Fury said to IFL TV.
“Where I come from in the gyms and stuff, you stand there and have a fight. This guy was hopping up and down the ring and didn’t want to engage, it was a scrappy affair.
“That was a horrible fight, I’ve not even watched it back and I’m not even sure I’m going to want to watch it back, because I was useless in there, but I still got the win.”
KSI has announced that he will be contesting the result, saying: “Robbery, it’s a robbery bro.”
He continued: “How many jabs did he land? And he had a point taken off as well. You weren’t landing. Look at your face, look at your eyes. Look at you.”
“How do I lose a six rounder? Unreal.
“He is the man who is meant to be a pro boxer and he won a majority decision? It’s outrageous man. The amount of times he hit me in the back of the head. So many times.
“And the referee only took one point? He kept doing it over and over.
He continued: “I’m sorry, it’s outrageous.
“We’re going to appeal, I want to appeal. I felt like I won that.”
Fury hit out at KSI’s response to the loss, saying: “You’re a sore loser. You’re a bum. Back to YouTube.”
