Travis Kelce Smiles in Photo With Cops Just Hours after Kansas City shooting

Travis Kelce was seen posing with Kansas City police officers just hours after a shooting incident marred the Super Bowl parade, leaving one person dead and at least 22 injured.

Photographs obtained on Wednesday evening show Kelce, 34, smiling and flashing a peace sign while taking a selfie with two law enforcement officers. Following the photo op, Kelce entered the Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar to join some of his teammates, as reported by the outlet.

The interaction occurred shortly before 7 p.m. CT, several hours after the conclusion of the Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl victory parade, which was cut short when gunfire erupted near Union Station.

Police Chief Stacey Graves provided updates during press conferences, confirming that at least 22 individuals were being treated for injuries, with one fatality. Among the victims, at least 12 were children, according to Stephanie Meyer, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Children’s Mercy Hospital, as reported by NBC News.

Graves revealed that three individuals were taken into custody for further investigation, while the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. She reassured that no NFL players or coaches present at the event were harmed.

Kelce expressed his sorrow over the tragic events on social media, stating on X, “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also shared his sentiments, writing, “Praying for Kansas City… 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽,” while his wife, Brittany, conveyed her thoughts on Instagram, emphasizing that violence is never the solution.

The Chiefs released an official statement expressing their regret, stating that they were “truly saddened by the senseless act of violence” that occurred at the parade’s conclusion, meant to celebrate the team’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Before the incident, Kelce, in a merry state, enthusiastically sang Garth Brooks’ 1990 hit “Friends in Low Places” during the parade festivities. Mahomes appeared to support him as they engaged with the crowd.

Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Travis Kelce, was not present to join in the musical moment as she had recently arrived in Australia for her ongoing Eras Tour.
