‘Sherri’ Top Exec Found Dead After Show is Investigated

The “Sherri” show is grappling with the loss of one of its key executives amidst an ongoing financial probe within the program.

Matt Uzzle, the executive-in-charge of Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show, was discovered deceased in his Piermont, NY, residence on February 13, as confirmed by a police source to Page Six. While police did not provide further details, sources indicate that Uzzle’s passing is believed to be a result of an apparent suicide.

At the time of his death, Uzzle, responsible for managing production and overseeing the budget of “Sherri,” was reportedly under investigation regarding financial matters at the show. Concerns had arisen among staff members regarding issues with petty cash, and the parent company, Debmar-Mercury, was alerted to unpaid rent for the show’s Chelsea studio in NYC since September.

“There was real concern among staff that the show was getting shut down. Debmar had to step in,” a source familiar with the situation revealed.

Despite these challenges, sources affirm that production of “Sherri” has continued without significant disruption.

Following a confrontation with management about the show’s financial status, Uzzle had reportedly mentioned needing time to organize his paperwork. Concerns escalated when attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, prompting a welfare check that tragically confirmed his passing.

Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind “Sherri,” has engaged legal assistance to investigate the matter further, refraining from elaborating on personnel issues or the circumstances of Uzzle’s death.

News of Uzzle’s demise has been relatively low-key, with only a few small news outlets acknowledging it. However, “Sherri” acknowledged his passing with an in-memoriam segment on its February 15 episode and has provided grief counseling for affected staff members.
