Star Trek & Captain Marvel Actor Kenneth Mitchell Dead Aged 49


Kenneth Mitchell, known for his roles in a ‘Star Trek’ series and a Marvel film, has passed away, as confirmed by his family in a statement. The actor, cherished not only for his talent but also his devotion to family, left us on Saturday, according to an announcement made on his Instagram account.

His family revealed that Mitchell succumbed to ALS after battling the disease for over five years. Despite the challenges imposed by his illness, he maintained a resilient outlook, treasuring each day as a precious gift.

Throughout his career, Mitchell showcased his acting prowess in various films and television series, including “Nancy Drew,” “The Astronauts Wives Club,” “NCIS,” “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Mitchell’s breakthrough came in 2006 with a leading role in the series “Jericho,” where he featured prominently in 27 out of 29 episodes across two seasons.

In recent years, Mitchell ventured into the realm of science fiction, notably portraying Joe, the father of Carol Danvers, in the 2019 Marvel blockbuster “Captain Marvel” and taking on multiple roles in the Paramount+ original series “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Survived by his wife Susan, children Lilah and Kallum, parents, siblings, and several nieces and nephews, Mitchell’s family encourages donations to ALS research in his honor.

Kenneth Mitchell, a talent taken too soon, was 49 years old. Rest in peace.
