Meghan Markle’s New Business Breaks Strict Deal With Royal Family

Meghan Markle’s latest business venture, American Riviera Orchard, may be facing potential conflicts with the Royal Family’s strict rules.

The Duchess of Sussex launched her Tig 2.0 brand on Instagram, quickly amassing over 140,000 followers. However, the timing of the launch, coinciding with Harry and William’s appearance at the Diana Legacy Award ceremony in London, has raised eyebrows. Some critics have labeled it “disgusting,” while others speculate about potential repercussions for Meghan.

Russell Myers, associate editor at The Mirror, highlighted a possible breach of the commercial agreement between Meghan and Harry’s family. He tweeted, “If you sign up for info on Meghan Markle’s new business venture, you’ll be notified about ‘products’. Clear breach of the agreement by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to not profit off their royal titles, is it not? Watch this space.”

Meghan’s new venture is believed to be a revival of her defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she closed in 2017 ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry. In a promotional video, she is depicted engaging in various activities at her Montecito mansion, set to the tune of “I Wish You Love” by Nancy Wilson.

American Riviera Orchard’s Instagram bio identifies Meghan as “The Duchess of Sussex⁣⁣⁣,” and the page indicates its establishment in 2024, with a link to its website, americanriviera.com. Visitors are prompted to join a waiting list, although details remain scant. Upon signing up, users receive a message promising early access to product releases and updates.

The brand’s name appears to reference Santa Barbara, where Meghan resides with Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet. A source described the venture as “close to her heart,” emphasizing Meghan’s passion and involvement.

According to a trademark application obtained by Page Six, American Riviera Orchard plans to offer a range of home goods, including jams, spreads, and tableware staples. The brand’s logo bears resemblance to Meghan’s calligraphy work, hinting at her creative influence.

The announcement coincided with Prince William’s speech at the Diana Awards, potentially overshadowing his appearance. Meanwhile, Harry appeared at the event via video link, maintaining a physical distance amid ongoing tensions with his brother.

Both princes paid tribute to their late mother, Princess Diana, and commended the winners of the award named in her honor. Harry praised the recipients for their impactful work, expressing his pride and gratitude for their dedication. He encouraged them to continue inspiring others and emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation.
