Get ready to adjust your reality goggles because “Black Mirror” is coming back for a seventh season, and Netflix is making sure we’re all on the edge of our seats – or sofas, or wherever you prefer your existential crises. Created by the master of dark satire, Charlie Brooker, this anthology series has been messing with our heads since its inception, making us side-eye our smartphones and giving us second thoughts about the latest tech gadgets.

Season 7 promises to throw us even more curveballs, with Netflix teasing a continuation of the “USS Callister” episode from season four. Yes, that’s right, the crew is back, and their intergalactic dilemmas are far from over. “Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning,” teases Netflix, ensuring that our favorite space misfits still have plenty of cosmic chaos to navigate.

If you thought the previous seasons were star-studded, just wait until you see who’s boarding the Black Mirror bandwagon this time around. Season six introduced us to the likes of Aaron Paul, Michael Cera, and Salma Hayek Pinault, among others. The upcoming season’s cast is under wraps, but if the trend continues, we might as well expect to see our local barista in a cameo.

Charlie Brooker, in his usual cryptic manner, promises a season filled with unexpected twists and new storytelling elements, some of which he once vowed never to explore. “The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before,” he says. So, brace yourself for a wild ride through the technological looking glass, where every episode is a reflection (sometimes quite literally) of our complex relationship with technology.

As the anticipation builds, remember that the title “Black Mirror” isn’t just a cool-sounding name. It’s a nod to the reflective black screens of our myriad devices, a reminder that the most unsettling stories are often the ones we’re living right now. So next time your screen goes dark, and you catch a glimpse of your reflection, just hope it doesn’t wink back.

“Black Mirror” Season 7: because we haven’t quite figured out that technology might be the end of us, but hey, at least it makes for some compelling television.
